Despite the lingering credit crunch, women are still very much into fashion. This season, designers are focusing on creating more straightforward pieces that are down-to-earth and wearable over and over again. As more people are turning away from buying flimsy, spur-of-the-moment, trendy pieces, they are starting to spend more on luxurious, versatile, and high-quality items. This is what investment dressing is and it’s very important - not only in this period but always. In future posts, I’ll be showing my fashion picks throughout each season.
*** My first pick: PREEN’s Aztec alpaca herringbone coat.
With inspiration taken from the ’80s, structured shoulders (characteristic of women’s power dressing at that time) has returned to grace the runways and streets this fall. What I love about this jacket is that it is made from alpaca, a lightweight fabric like wool but a lot warmer and not as itchy. It’s luxurious, understated, and timeless - good for any occasion. Throw it over an LBD during chilly nights or for a casual look, pair with elbow-length leather gloves, skinny jeans and equestrian boots and off you go.
